Also called: Pre-shipment inspection · PSI · Final random inspection
In a final or pre-shipment inspection, an inspector draws a random sample from goods that are finished and largely packed — a common rule is at least 80 % packed — and checks them against the purchase order, the written specification and the approved sample. Typical checks are quantity and packing, workmanship, measurements, function, labelling and carton marking, judged with the AQL sampling plan agreed in the order.
The inspection can be done by the supplier, by the buyer or by an independent inspection company. If you need an independent inspection, name it in the request so that it is included in the quotation and the timeline.
