NyCo (nylon-cotton)

NyCo is a blend of nylon (polyamide) and cotton, typically around 50/50, widely used for combat uniforms because it combines durability with breathability.

Also called: Nylon-cotton blend · NYCO

NyCo fabrics blend polyamide (nylon) with cotton; a roughly 50/50 ratio is the most common, often in a ripstop or twill weave. The cotton side gives comfort, breathability and a matt surface; the nylon side adds abrasion and tear resistance and helps the fabric keep its strength through repeated washing.

Combat uniform specifications that use NyCo usually also define fabric weight, weave, shrinkage, colour fastness, camouflage print quality and, where required, near-infrared reflectance. When comparing offers, check that the blend ratio and fabric weight are stated, because they change both performance and price.
